Last week a small group of Detroiters gathered at the Gem Theater downtown to share positive ideas for the city of Detroit at TEDxDetroit 2012. TEDx Detroit Gem Theatre

Event planners everywhere are familiar with the TEDx conference model, a localized conference spread globally through the TEDx organization. The event gathered people together into Detroit for a day of technology, education, and design shared through speeches.

Messages Blocks was proud to be a part of the day as both a sponsor and the event planning technology used for TEDx Detroit. TEDx was quite the success and can set a good example for other event planners in Michigan.

TEDx Detroit Takeaways:

  • Stay organized. TEDx Detroit did a great job of keeping everyone informed of the agenda on Message Blocks and throughout the day. Speeches were organized into groups with similar themes to help organize the awesome speeches.
  • Know your audience. Event planners made sure to give their audience short breaks throughout. Whether it was a musical performance or a half hour break, the audience was able to refresh and stay engaged.
  • Keep communication straightforward. The event planners for TEDx Detroit did a great job of keeping communication short and informative. Attendees were emailed a week before hand and again early in the morning the day of the event. The emails were straight to the point keeping the audience well informed.
